Each year the Northern Midlands branch of Flanagan and Chugg Taekwondo takes a team to Sydney to compete in various competitions.
Efforts this year will be magnified by the club as the International Sports Karate Association's multi-discipline world championships is staged.
Evandale instructor Roger Howard said his team would be in attendance, and it wouldn't be there to make up numbers.
The club's family-oriented nature was what made it accessible and fun, Howard said.
He said its push to see parents and children train together gave training sessions a welcoming vibe, although it also meant that costs could be prohibitive when it came to team travel.
A proactive fund-raising approach from members, and a growing list of Tasmanian sponsors, should help to see the club on its way.
Personalised instruction from Launceston-based women's point sparring taekwondo world champion Brandi-Lee Ryan will also help to give the club an edge in competition.
A disco fund-raiser will be held at the Perth Community Centre this Saturday in aid of the club's efforts.
