The robbery, committed by two masked men in dark clothing, happened about 10.30pm.
One man was armed with a wooden stick, while the other carried what appeared to be a pistol.
The robbers fled with a large sum of cash, including more than 3000 $1 coins.
The coins would have weighed at least 27 kilograms.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Gillies said police were following specific lines of inquiry after new information had emerged.
He said witnesses reported seeing a reasonably neat, white car, possibly with a spoiler, in the vicinity of the hotel at the time of the robbery.
Police urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
