The annual national day has a number of aims, but most importantly to encourage primary school-aged children to walk to school with either their parent or caregiver and reinforce good pedestrian behaviours.
West Launceston principal Bev Shadbolt is supporting the day and has been encouraging pupils to get involved.
On the day she will walk from the Gorge gates up Basin Road to school and collect children along the way.
