Ravenswood man to fight dangerous weapon charge

A Ravenswood man will contest allegations he was intent on committing burglary armed with a handgun.

Joshua John Atkinson, 27, pleaded not guilty in Launceston Magistrates Court to one count of being found prepared for the commission of a crime while armed with a dangerous weapon.

Court documents allege Mr Atkinson was found with a FN Herstal 6mm handgun on Wellington Street Launceston on April 7.

Magistrate Reg Marron committed the matter to trial.

A number of other firearm charges were adjourned  to a date to be fixed.

Mr Atkinson was remanded on bail to appear in Launceston's Supreme Court on July 21.
