VOTING has now closed in the 2014 Legislative Council election. Voters in the Northern seat of Rosevears and Southern seat of Huon braved cold conditions to cast their vote today. More than 20,000 Rosevears voters took to the polls today, while about 4000 electors voted early. It's a two-way race for the Northern upper house seat, with incumbent independent Kerry Finch and Liberal Don Morris tussling for the position. With just two names on the Rosevears ballot paper, results could be known in as little as 90 minutes from now. Mr Finch said he was keeping an open mind about the result ahead of the first votes being counted. ``I don't want to get ahead of myself,'' Mr Finch said. ``I've really appreciated the fantastic report I've received from the community throughout the campaign; whether it's reflected in the final result, we'll just have to wait and see.'' Mr Morris said he too had received a positive reaction during his campaign. ``Nevertheless, I do appreciate it's going to be hard to dislodge a 12-year incumbent,'' Mr Morris said. Seven candidates are vying for a place in the house of review in Huon. Ahead of this evening's count, most political analysts tipped Liberal candidate Peter Hodgman to claim victory down South. Results will be posted progressively on the Tasmanian Electoral Commission website this evening.
