Andrew, 22, has joined brother Brad, 21, at North Launceston after captaining NTFA club Rocherlea and being part of the club's three successive premierships.
The tough defender said he had considered making the transition to State League level for some time before finally making the decision.
"I wanted to have a bit of a change from NTFA and get a more professional approach to my football, and this was obviously the place to come, to play with my younger brother," he said.
"It's a big step-up, a lot fitter and harder - a bit more to learn, but I'll pick it up.
"It's been a good introduction with a couple of wins, and I'd like to stick at it for a couple of years and see how I go."
A former Tassie Mariner, Brad has racked up about 70 senior games for North Launceston and is an integral part of the club's midfield set-up.
"I never played at Rocherlea and this is the first year I and my brother have played together, so that's exciting," he said.
"It's good to have him here and get out on the park together.
"We play different positions and there isn't any rivalry there between us."
The Cox-Goodyer's youngest sibling, Kaiden, is still playing at Rocherlea, and both his older brothers keen for him to make the move to North too.
"He's 17 and should be down here and he's got the talent," Brad said.
"He's coming along and has a nice, raking left foot, and it would be good to see him down here at the Bombers next year as well."
With North Launceston taking on Clarence in a big Anzac Day TSL clash under lights at Aurora Stadium tonight, both brothers are confident of a good performance.
"If we stick to what we've worked on during the preseason, hopefully we can come away with a win," Andrew said.
