NORTHERN Bombers captain Mitchell Van Den Berg is starting to feel more comfortable in the role.
The 20-year-old forward became North Launceston's youngest senior captain last season when given the role by coach Zane Littlejohn.
``Second year in the role and it is good to continue because I learnt a fair bit last year,'' he said.
``I'm feeling pretty confident going into this year with the boys.''
Van Den Berg said the club was happy with two wins to start the season but the playing and coaching group were not getting ahead of themselves.
``It's a long year and we'll see how we go but although it is a good start we are not getting carried away yet.
``We've got Clarence tomorrow night and it's another big game.
``Preseason I thought they would be one of the benchmarks so it will be good to see where we are this year.''
Van Den Berg said the Bombers team overall was ``pretty even'' and everyone playing their role was bringing results.
``I feel like I can improve a fair bit yet but while the team is playing well and winning I'm happy,'' he said.
``It's time we made finals and that's our goal.''
Van Den Berg said having recruits such as Corey Nankervis and Andrew Cox-Goodyer down back in defence and Damien Medwin up forward had added to the team's depth and structure.
Having former AFL player Chris Tarrant around the club for five games this season had also been beneficial to the players.
``I know I've learnt stuff off him and it's much better having him around for a longer period of time than just a one-off game,'' he said.
