The show, which started yesterday and finishes today at the former Dunlop tyre factory in Wellington Street, is raising money for the Baskerville Foundation, the organisation that hopes to resurface the Southern racing circuit and generally bring facilities up to a modern standard.
"The Sporting Car Club 60th anniversary raised $10,000 down at Baskerville last weekend and I'd love to top that," Mr Gurnhill said simply.
"And with the steady number of people we'd had through by lunch time, we may just manage it."
Mr Gurnhill said that all but one of the nearly 50 cars on show was based in Tasmania.
"The response from owners around the state has been wonderful," he said.
