A HOBART jury will today be taken to see the murder site of a slain fisherman. The 12-member panel, along with two reserve jurors, are hearing the murder trial of 61-year-old Stephen Roy Standage. Mr Standage has pleaded not guilty to killing Ronald Frederick Jarvis, 37, at Nugent, in July 1992 and John Lewis Thorn, 59, at Lake Leake, in August 2006. A police escort and two Supreme Court-appointed "showers" and "viewers" will accompany the jury to a number of locations in the state's South. They will first stop at the Waterside Hotel in Bellerive (formerly the Clarence Hotel), the last location that Ronald Jarvis is believed to have been seen in July 1992. The jury will then visit the victim's house at Howrah, before being driven to remote bushland at Nugent, where the court has heard Mr Jarvis was killed. The victim's skeletal remains were discovered at the site about six months after his disappearance, along with a spent bullet casing, several items of clothing and two broken saplings. The jury will also visit a nearby quarry, the site of an alleged cannabis plantation. The viewing is expected to take several hours. The trial continues on Monday.
