Tasmania Fire Service acting chief officer Jeff Harper said the state had dry periods throughout the 2013-14 bushfire season.
``The North-West, Northern and Southern regions experienced bushfires that burnt for extended periods of time, particularly on the West Coast,'' he said.
``This autumn may offer good opportunities for property owners and land managers to reduce fuels through responsible burning, and we encourage them to do so.
``While fire permits will no longer be required, property owners should be aware that any fire burning on their property is their responsibility and they should ensure that the fire remains within their property boundaries.''
Mr Harper urged people to register their burns by calling 1800 000 699, to avoid unnecessary brigade responses.
