A 26-year-old Burnie man has been killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway at Hellyer early this morning.
Police say he was the only occupant of the vehicle, which was a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan.
Police said the car swerved onto a gravel shoulder, back onto the road and crossed both lanes before hitting trees on the northern side of the road.
The man suffered head injuries and died at the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the car before the incident, which occured about 7am, to call their local police station or 131 444.

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the Bass Highway at Hellyer.
Police say they believe it is a single-vehicle crash.
The highway is currently blocked and attempts are being made to divert traffic.
