At about 1.20am, Tasmania Fire Service arrived at the Goya Road property to find the front of the house was fully engulfed with the fire quickly spreading to the rest of the house through the ceiling cavity.
The 55-year-old, the only occupant at the time, escaped without any injuries, although he was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
He was alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm in the hallway.
The fire is not suspicious, however the exact cause is still undetermined.
It is believed that the fire has started in the loungeroom.
The damage to the property is estimated at approximately $300,000.00.
