The former forestry worker and Top Tassie Woodcrafts managing director said Deloraine's StringFest offered people the opportunity to pick their own timber, choose a producer and get a guitar made.
``A lot of people like making their own guitar, they like playing with wood,'' Mr Walker said.
``Our wood is some of the finest in the world.''
Today's festival program offers a farmers' market and streets filled with talented buskers.
Meander Valley's own Ed Tuleja will join with special guests to lead breakfast from 10am on the Riverside stage.
The man labelled ``The Wizard'' of stringed instruments, Justin Johnson, will lead a cigar box workshop at Little Theatre from 3pm.
The festival continues tomorrow from 10am.
