Hodgman relaxed, upbeat for the big day
LIBERAL Leader Will Hodgman shared a laugh and a cuddle with members of his young family as he cast his vote this morning.
The man most commentators are tipping to become the next Premier of Tasmania looked rested and upbeat when he arrived at the Hobart Town Hall shortly before noon.
Despite all polls pointing to a Liberal majority government being installed, Mr Hodgman said he could not be confident of a result until numbers started coming into the tally room tonight.
Having spent the morning doing housework, Mr Hodgman said he was planning to spend his afternoon talking to undecided voters.
``There's a long way to go in this election even still, and just a few hours can be very important in how people are voting,'' he said.
``The most important poll is taking place as we speak. Tasmanians are finally getting to have their say in the direction the state should be heading in and about the next government of this state.''
Mr Hodgman said voting in today's state election was an unusual experience.
``There's a lot riding on this,'' he said.
``My vote is one of several hundred thousand, and I think it's a fantastic thing for our democracy.''
The Liberal Leader said the election campaign had been long and tough.
``We've remained positive throughout,'' he said.
``Finally today Tasmanians get to have their say, I think it's a great thing.''
