Over the last twelve years in parliament, I have fought against corruption because I am committed to our democracy.
Politics is not about ribbon cutting ceremonies.
It’s about ensuring the right policies for everyone to get a fair go.
I will continue to hold to account whoever forms government post-March 2014.
Holding the balance of power over the last four years has meant that voices from the community that might otherwise have been ignored by a majority government were heard and listened to.
We have listened and I have worked with the Greens to value our forests by delivering real jobs using less logs, delivered a plan for cheap power prices to stimulate the economy, kept the Tamar Valley free of a pulp mill and ensured everyone can catch a feed by stopping the super trawler.
I am also committed to cleaning our Tamar River and restoring Launceston to its River City status.
We must stop sewerage from entering the river, bring our Waste Water Treatment plants up to best practice and restore the Gorge environmental flows.
Government should ensure an even playing field is provided so successful businesses can thrive and contribute to Tasmania delivering the best education, healthcare and infrastructure possible.
We need to move on from the expectation that certain industries can continue to live off the public purse. It is unhealthy and unhelpful for our broader economy.
