Cameron Brasher, 25, appeared in an out-of-hours session of the Launceston Magistrates Court this morning.
Mr Brasher pleaded not guilty to all 20 charges read out to him by Magistrate Simon Brown.
Police will allege the defendant fired a double-barrel shotgun at Constable Adrian Ayers in Poatina yesterday.
Mr Brasher is also accused of aggravated assault by firing a gun at police Inspector Matt McCreadie shortly afterwards.
Mr Brown adjourned committed the allegations to the Supreme Court in Launceston for mention on April 28.
Other charges including stealing, firearms offences, resisting and threatening police and motor vehicle theft were adjourned to a date to be fixed.
The man's partner who was arrested by police along with Mr Brasher yesterday in Poatina has been charged with three counts of stealing and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
