She will stand as the lead candidate for Denison but has also assumed the role of deputy leader of the Palmer United Party in Tasmania. Barbara is unquestionably one of the most well-credentialed candidates to contest the March 15 election.
Highly educated and a qualified barrister and solicitor, Barbara is the owner of Hobart legal practice BEtter Consulting. Previously, she was a former Assistant Commissioner with the Western Australia Police and lists among her many achievements the title of WA Telstra Business Woman of the Year.
She is a member of groups such as Rotary International, Civil Liberties Australia, Women Chiefs of Enterprise International, the Law Society and Tasmanian Women Lawyers.
With over 30 years’ law and order experience in various jurisdictions, she includes policing, health, cost of living pressures and a “fair go” for all as her areas of particular interest.
“I have never been a member of a political party before but like many Tasmanians I have been driven to action because I am saddened to see this great State on its knees in an economic sense,” Barbara said.
“I am also concerned by the State being scarred by divisive and polarising issues and the need for a more honest, open and accountable government. The Palmer United Party has promised to bring economic prosperity back to Tasmania after decades of neglect from Labor, the Greens and the Liberals.
“I will provide a strong and much needed focus on important social issues including the need for greater integrity in government and a just and fair society. I will bring a strong emphasis on community safety, child protection and law and order issues. We need your support.”
