UPDATE: Fire investigators are examining the scene this morning. A Tasmania Fire Service spokeswoman said officers were confident that no-one was inside the house at the time of the blaze.
EARLIER: THE Tasmania Fire Service was unsure if residents were inside a Cradle Mountain house that caught alight late last night.
The service and Tasmania Police were called to the Cradle Mountain Road, Erriba, scene just before 9pm and by 10.30pm were still trying to control the blaze.
A fire service spokesman said the house was fully engulfed with flames when it arrived and as it had not controlled the blaze by 10.30pm was unsure if anyone was stuck inside.
The spokesman said the service had had a number of issues getting water to control the blaze as the property was so isolated.
More details are expected to be known today and an investigation will be carried out this morning.
The area was put on fire watch over night.
