Prior to entering Parliament, Elise practised law for 17 years in Tasmania, predominantly in employment (industrial relations) law, anti-discrimination and insurance law (personal injuries). She was also a board member of not for profit organisations and performed pro bono legal work.
Elise is married and grew up with three siblings who each have two children, and values her family, friendships and community responsibilities.
Elise was born and educated in Tasmania and grew up working in her family's small businesses throughout her school years and university studies at UTAS.
Elise believes that Tasmania:
- is at a cross-road and that Tasmanians are craving stability, both political and economic, and that they deserve to feel more certain about their and their children’s future;
- needs to look at all possibilities and start saying ‘yes’ to opportunities, utilising its strengths and finding ways to achieve an outcome – to ensure growth, create jobs and fund essential services; and
- must become one of the most competitive places to do business, with the right environment to encourage investment and jobs growth. Getting business to invest in Tasmania requires the government of the day to sell its vision and create a place where people can’t wait to come here.
