West Australian wins Tassie title
WEST Australian Jarryd Felton has reined supreme in the 2014 Country Club Tasmania Open Golf Championship.
Felton did just enough yesterday to secure the championship victory after two stellar rounds in the middle of the competition.
The 18-year-old amateur scored 73 in his final outing to win the title by two strokes.
His overall score was nine-under-par.
Tasmanian Mark Schulze played consistent golf throughout the championship to finish fourth.
He scored 70 in the final round to finish on four-under-par for the competition.
New South Welshwoman Elizabeth Elmassian came from behind to win the 2014 Elvie Whitesides 72-Hole Stroke Play Championship.
The 17-year-old sunk a massive putt for birdie on the 18th hole to clinch victory.
She had trailed by four strokes from West Australian Hannah Green going into the last round.
Elmassian carded 70 in the final round to take out the championship by one stroke.
Tasmanian Sarah Johnstone finished third on 10-over-par.
Strong winds played havoc during the final round yesterday.
Players struggled to negotiate with strong gusts of wind, but fortunately rain held off until play had concluded.
