Legana's Ian Chesterman has been busy with a hectic schedule of press conferences, interviews and commitments as Australia's chef de mission in the Russian city of Sochi this week, but has also agreed to be the guest speaker launching the fund-raising campaign to assist Tasmanians hoping to reach the Rio de Janeiro games in 2016.
The Tasmanian Olympic Council will be hosting the Winter Olympic tribute luncheon in Launceston on April 4 and began planning with some key stakeholders at the Boathouse in Lindsay Street yesterday under the watchful eye of its president and five-time Olympian Anthony Edwards.
TOC executive officer Sally Napthali said the council was delighted that Chesterman had agreed to share his Sochi highlights with his home town.
``The TOC is hosting this event to honour and highlight the significance of Ian's involvement in the Olympic movement,'' she said.
