Launceston City Council Mayor Albert van Zetten today said it was important for people to have their say on the draft Greater Launceston Plan and the specific initiatives it contained before public comment on the plan closed on March 3.
"The GLP will have a major influence on the council's future direction in engaging with the state and federal government on priority issues and in providing services, facilities and capital projects to grow prosperity and quality of life,'' he said.
Alderman van Zetten said people could comment on components of the plan on the council's consultation website: www.yourvoiceyourlaunceston.com.au.
A community workshop will also be held at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery at Inveresk on Thursday, February 27, from 6pm.
Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to: greaterlauncestonplan@launceston.tas.gov.au
There will be face-to-face consultation sessions at Centro Meadows Mews in Kings Meadows on Wednesday, February 26, from 11am until 3pm; at Mowbray Marketplace in the Target Foyer on Thursday, February 27, from 10am until 2pm; and at the Brisbane Street Mall opposite Myer on Saturday, March 1 from 10am until 3pm.
