Missy, a 2 and 1/2-year-old jack russell, helped raise her South African boer goat friend after owner Jessica Hoyle forced the pair outside.
``I couldn't stand her [the goat's] moaning,'' Ms Hoyle said of the aptly named animal.
Ms Hoyle bought Mona - full name Mona-Jackie - for $60 at Karoola.
The three-day-old kid had been rejected by its mother.
In stepped Missy, who taught the goat to eat grass and sit like a dog.
The pair slept together in a laundry basket until Mona was moved from their place at Ravenswood to Ms Hoyle's mother's property at Nunamara.
She said the now three-month-old goat required more space.
``She's got a deformed leg, so she can't keep up with mum's other goats,'' Ms Hoyle said.
``The prices [vets] asked to fix her leg were astronomical.''
Missy visits her best mate once a fortnight and the pair spent Christmas Day together.
``She [Missy] sees her [Mona] as family,'' Ms Hoyle said.
