JACKSON Bird's road back to the baggy green will include a stop-over with the the Prime Minister's XI against England at Manuka Oval next Tuesday.

The Tasmanian paceman, who had taken nine Big Bash League wickets at 11.22 for the Melbourne Stars, last played against the English in the fourth Ashes Test in England last year before flying home due to a back injury.

National selection panel chairman John Inverarity yesterday said the match would be another opportunity for Bird to increase his workload.

The 27-year-old is joined by fellow Tiger and Melbourne Star Clive Rose in a team that will be captained by former Test spearhead Brett Lee.
