THE Basin concert will be revived this year, led by concert promoter Clint Pease. Mr Pease, who is known for pulling big names to Launceston through msfest and Breath of Life festivals, said music lovers should expect a more stripped down and boutique experience when music returns to the Cataract Gorge after 14 years' absence. He promised a mix of well-known Australian artists with local and emerging talent, conforming to an unplugged theme for the first comeback gig. ``We're talking to some significant artists,'' Mr Pease said. ``One of the reasons we are going for the unplugged theme is that we can put a much broader-scale artist in a much smaller and unique venue. ``It allows them to deliver what they want to musically while we deal with the environmental restrictions that we have placed upon us.'' He said the venue itself would be the show's headline act as a key ambition was to showcase the natural amphitheatre of the First Basin, along with the region's food and beverage products. Mr Pease said the one-day ticketed event would be capped at 2000 people to obey a provision set by the Cataract Gorge Advisory Committee. Mr Pease said he foresaw a series of Basin concerts over future summer months if the first show proved a success. Launceston Alderman Rob Soward, who has attempted to revive the Basin Concert concept over the past few years, said he was delighted that somebody with Mr Pease's experience had taken on the project. ``This could be the start of some amazing things,'' Alderman Soward said. ``Like Clint, I've got some fantastic memories of what was here, and we will both work together to create some amazing new memories.''
