The out-of-contract 30-year-old from Clarence could find himself cut from Adelaide's list at the end of the current trade period if he cannot find a suitable trade, after the Crows picked up fellow small forward Eddie Betts through free agency.
Callinan's manager, Ben Williams, told the AFL website this week that the 32-game player would be willing to play anywhere to extend his AFL career.
``Ian just wants the opportunity to play football at the elite level, wherever that may be,'' Williams said.
``He loves the (Adelaide) footy club, but if the opportunity to play senior footy there no longer exists, then he's willing to explore other options.''
Adelaide list manager David Noble did not dismiss the possibility of Callinan being on the club's list in 2014.
``I think he has still got some footy left in him _ that's why I can't give you the heads-up (on a potential trade) because he might very well still be on our list,'' Noble also said on AFL.com.au.
Callinan, who will be 31 when the first ball is bounced in 2014, has kicked 49 goals in 32 games.
The 172-centimetre small-forward was a key part of the Adelaide team that just fell short of a grand final appearance in 2012, when he kicked 39 majors to finish runner-up to Taylor Walker in the Crows' goal-kicking department.
Recruited as a 27-year-old rookie in 2010, his first year was ruined by injuries before his moment in the sun the following season.
An early season knee problem hampered his form this year, but he kicked six goals in his last three games, including three against the Western Bulldogs in round 21, in a promising end to the year.
Before making his way on to an AFL list, he starred for the Tassie Devils in the VFL and played in four premierships with Central Districts in the SANFL.
Callinan is the second Tasmanian to be heavily discussed during this year's trade period, with Carlton's Mitch Robinson linked to Port Adelaide.
But Carlton recruiting manager Shane Rogers last week dismissed the possibility of the Lauderdale hard-nut leaving the Blues.
Glenorchy's Brisbane forward Aaron Cornelius is another out-of-contract player whose future is presently up in the air.
