A 24-year-old Ulverstone man is in the North-West Regional Hospital in Burnie after he collided with a tree after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash with a marked police car overnight.

Police alleged that about 12.25am this morning, a white Toyota Camry station wagon, driven by the Ulverstone man, crashed into the police car after failing to give way an the intersection of Eastland Drive and Heathcote Street in Ulverstone.
Police allege that the Camry continued on after the crash and was found a short time later on the Lovett Street off-ramp of the Bass Highway.
Police say that it appears that the man lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.
No pursuit was initiated by police at any stage during the incident.
The man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and no police officers were hurt in the collision.
Police ask that anyone who saw the Toyota station wagon in the Ulverstone area around the time of the incident are asked to contact Ulverstone Police on 6429 8608.
