Festivale chairwoman Lou Clark said the preparations for the three-day event had gone smoothly.
``We've got marquees up, umbrellas, tables and chairs, the toilets are in _ it's all ready to go,'' Ms Clark said.
``It's pretty amazing how it all comes together... it's like a little city.''
Last night, a cocktail party was held to launch the event, which is in its 25th year.
Ms Clark said the park's layout was fairly similar to previous years, but with one exception.
``We have introduced a buskers' pitch this year to host our international buskers, which we haven't had for a few years,'' she said.
``So if people are entering from the Tamar Street entrance, the first thing they're going to see is the buskers.''
Festivale will continue tomorrow from 11am and on Sunday from 10am.
