Ponting's unbeaten 200 from 349 balls (27 x 4s, 1 x 6) just overshadowed a masterful maiden century from off-spinner Jason Krejza, who was also unbeaten on 118 (254 balls, 13x4s, 1x6) when the Tigers declared their first innings closed at 6-425.
Ponting and Krejza shared in a record Shield partnership of 293 for the seventh wicket after coming together with the score at 6-132 yesterday.
