Ponting turns back the clock with 200

Former Test captain Ricky Ponting has turned back the clock with a masterful double century for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales at Blundstone Arena today.

Ponting's unbeaten 200 from 349 balls (27 x 4s, 1 x 6) just overshadowed a masterful maiden century from off-spinner Jason Krejza, who was also unbeaten on 118 (254 balls, 13x4s, 1x6) when the Tigers declared their first innings closed at 6-425.

Ponting and Krejza shared in a record Shield partnership of 293 for the seventh wicket after coming together with the score at 6-132 yesterday.

The Blues have just started their innings, with Scott Henry and David Dawson at the crease.
