Proponent Glenn Millhouse, who holds the liquor licence for the club, said it would be in the vein of Moulin Rouge and German cabaret and would be called Playgirls Burlesque.
However, its Facebook site is labelling the venture Launceston Showgirls and is calling for strippers, female security staff, bartenders and cleaners.
When contacted, a woman called Julieanne who is handling the recruitment of dancers said it would be called Launceston Showgirls.
According to the site, Picture magazine covergirl Isabelle Deltore appears to have signed up for a show, posting that she couldn't ``wait to perform at the new club''.
Former Hobart adult entertainment club manager Robbie Wilson said he was running the Facebook site for Mr Millhouse.
Mr Millhouse has said previously that he would like to open the club, formerly the Hub in Tamar Street, on Festivale weekend next month.
He said he would spend about $150,000 refurbishing the venue, which also would have budget accommodation on the first floor.
