The unnamed group, led by Perth's Michael Manhire, united to raise funds for the Rotary Tasmania Bushfire Appeal.
Mr Manhire said the musicians belonged to different Celtic bands and groups, but sometimes joined forces for a worthy cause.
"We don't get together a lot to busk, but we're doing it today because it needs to be done. We also did it after the Victorian bushfires and one of the tsunamis overseas," Mr Manhire said.
After two hours, Mr Manhire said the group had raised $1647.20 for the appeal, and planned to raise more when they busked at Brisbane Street Mall again next Thursday.
