In the state for the triennial national Girl Guides jamboree, the girls spent the day completing numerous activities in the city, before participating in a flash mob at the Brisbane Street Mall, then the park for a night's entertainment.
Girl Guides Australia chief commissioner Helen Geard said the girls had been staying at Quercus Rural Youth Park and would finish on Saturday.
``The event happens every three years and this is Tasmania's turn this year.
``It is getting together to give the girls opportunities to go beyond themselves,'' she said.
``There is all an element of learning about the world, who they are and where they fit into the different challenges.
``It is about having fun, being challenged and making new friends - which is what guiding is all about.''
