Mr Eather's Dunalley home was destroyed and his fishing operation was based at Boomer Bay, another area hard hit by the fire that has burnt almost 23,000 hectares from Forcett to the Tasman Peninsula.
He said rumours had been circulating that he and/or his business had died, rumours he was keen to quash.
``We have made alternative arrangements and business is continuing as per usual, but not without its challenges,'' he said.
He said any confirmed booking for speaking engagements, dinners or ``catch and dine'' trips that had been made for the next six months would be honoured but no new bookings would be taken during that period.
Mr Eather said the support of the community gave him and others the incentive to deal with the aftermath of the fire.
``It just restores your faith in humanity,'' he said.
