Temperatures are expected to reach the high 20s over the weekend, before plummeting to a mediocre 22 degrees with a southerly breeze on Tuesday.
Sunday would be a good day to fire up the barbecue, with forecaster Alex Melitsis predicting the temperature in Launceston to hit a balmy 28 degrees.
``A slow-moving trough will cross the state on Monday and bring a few showers,'' Mr Melitsis said.
He said people could expect insignificant showers scattered throughout the day and temperatures rising to a respectable 26 degrees.
Mr Melitsis said the warm and drier weather was limited and Launceston could expect a shower overnight and early Christmas morning.
``Christmas day should be fine, partly cloudy with temperatures getting up to around 22 degrees only,'' he said.
``We will be lucky to get up to 18 in Hobart on Christmas day.''
