Teachers at St Joseph’s Catholic School in Mount Isa surprised their students on the last day of term today with a flash mob dance to ‘Uptown Funk’ at final school assembly. A full hall of students erupted with glee as their teachers got down and danced a full three and a half minutes to the upbeat jam. Staff had kept the surprise hidden until 10 minutes into the assembly, when they all lined up at the side of stage. Students’ laughter and cheers almost drowned out the music as they joined in singing and dancing in their seat. The school assembly marked the final day of school for the term and year, and the last day of primary school for some. Father Mick Lowcock was there to bless the school body, and close St Joseph’s Year of Mercy, in line with the Diocese of Townsville’s theme for 2017.
