About Our Client

Our client is a manufacturing and agricultural organisation based out of Cremorne in Melbourne's inner suburbs. The role will begin as a 12-month contract due to an internal secondment and have the opportunity for extension & progression. The role could suit someone who is keen and eager to learn and develop into a Corporate Accountant or alternatively someone who is already at this level looking to join a great team!

Job Description

The role of Corporate Accountant will include but not be limited to:

• Assisting the treasury department
• Responsible for the Corporate month end processing journals including prepayments, Group interest, payroll journals, elimination
• Responsibility for preparation of monthly Group Finance Report in collaboration with Financial Controller
• First review of Corporate and Payroll balance sheet reconciliations within Blackline
• Responsibility for key accounting processes which underpin corporate accounting deliverables, including;
• Review monthly report of overhead costs for Executive reporting
• Preparation of monthly origination overheads
• Manage the following key tax matters
• Monthly BAS / GST Return Review and Lodgment
• Annual FBT Return including communication with EY directly
• Assist Financial Controller in other tax matters including
• Quarterly Tax effect accounting
• Annual Income Tax preparation
• Preparation of the annual company budget in collaboration with Financial Controller, including consolidation of business Unit budgets and inclusion of corporate items (eg SGA, Tax, Non-recurring, investment)
• Support in the update of the monthly Group forecast
• Responsibility for the audit for corporate and tax related queries
• Support to the Financial Controller in the preparation in annual statutory accounts

The Successful Applicant

• Technical accounting knowledge gained from a large/complex corporate environment, reporting according to Australian Accounting Standards
• Good knowledge of corporate accounting processes (including variance analysis, GL posting, accruals and reconciliations) and statutory reporting requirements
• Familiarity with key end-to-end business processes and associated internal controls such as reporting, budgeting and forecasting and tax related obligations
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in meeting period end reporting deadlines including a daily reporting cycle
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge of SAPB1 and/or CSM ERP packages preferred
