Your new company
This agency is at the forefront of supporting and improving Australia’s plant health system to ensure it minimises the impacts of current and emerging plant biosecurity risks to Australia’s environment, production and trade.

Your new role
As the APS6 Safety and Training Officer, you will play a key role working with all officers of the Commission to ensure that they are appropriately skilled for their roles and that they work to the highest safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, documenting and maintaining the commissions WHS programs
  • Developing, documenting and maintaining training programs and coordinate their delivery to new and existing staff
  • Participate in the implementation of the commissions surveillance and management programs as required (including remote area travel and field operations)
  • Participate in the development and delivery of supporting systems and documents used in field operations
  • Cultivate an extensive network of relevant national and state contacts
  • Assisting the Director in any aspect of the Commission’s activities as required

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role you will need a can-do-attitude along with:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in the development, implementation and assessment of safety management programs. (eg. Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety)
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in the development, delivery and assessment of competency-based training packages. (eg. Certificate IV in Training & Assessment).
  • Experience in the delivery and management of training and WHS to staff in remote locations.
  • Manual car licence and ability to drive in a range of conditions.
  • The occupant of this position can be required to work away from home for long periods under physically and environmentally demanding conditions in remote areas.

Relevant formal training and/or experience in a biological, agricultural or environmental science is desirable.
