Donation a grand slam against lupus

ORGANISERS of this year's St Helens Grand Slam fishing event have donated $1500 to the Lupus Association of Tasmania, bringing the event's fund-raising total to $6000 in four years.

The Grand Slam, held in January each year, is a community event that challenges each team to catch one each of an Australian salmon, bream and silver trevally.

More than 100 people in 30 teams competed for glory on Georges Bay this year, the fourth time the event has been held.

Colleen and Bruce McCormack accepted a cheque for $1500 on behalf of the Lupus Association of Tasmania last week.

The winning St Helens Grand Slam team this year was Leroy Tirant and Lisa Egglestone. Second was Mason and Daniel Paull, and in third place was Jamie, Donna and Jacob Morehouse.
