The picnics are part of Children's Week, which runs nationally from October 24 to November 7, to promote this year's theme - children have the right to choose their own friends and safely connect with others.
IN OTHER NEWS:
One picnic was held at Playgroup's centre at Invermay, where craft activities, music, stories, bubbles and parachute fun provided a resemblance to past picnics.
Playgroup Tasmania chief executive officer Jacinda Armstrong said this year's theme focused on the right of children to enjoy childhood and to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.
"[It] looks a little different this year with a focus on smaller, local activities and events," she said.
"There are several options available for online and at home activities as well as physically connecting with others."
There are 35 activities happening around the state this year for the week, visit playgrouptas.org.au/national-childrens-week/ to find out more.
