Tim Walker, who grew up in Launceston, but now London Philharmonic Orchestra's chief executive and artistic director, was awarded a Commander of the Order for arts and music.
Walker has been with the orchestra since 2002 and has played a transformative role in securing the LPO's position as one of the world's finest symphony orchestras.
Before leaving Australia, he founded, and was the chief executive, of World Orchestras; a company established to present an international orchestras season at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Concert Hall.

In 2002, he was made a member of the Order of Australia for his services to arts and administration.
Walker said he was deeply honoured by the recognition from the Queen.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the plays of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, its staff and many supporters and audiences around the world," he said.
"The players are the heart and soul of this great orchestra and I would like to think this is a shared honour with them."
Orchestra chairman Victoria Robey said she was thrilled for his recognition.
"He has lead the LPO with great originality, flair and passion ensuring the orchestra is at the forefront of the UK's cultural life with inspiring, inclusive programming, highest artistic standards and thoughtfully developed work with tens of thousands of people in our local and broader communities," she said.
Walker was born in Hobart but went to Trevallyn Primary and Riverside High schools, and Launceston College. He still visits his Carrick property biannually.
He has an honours degree in arts, a Diploma of Music and a Diploma of Education from the University of Tasmania, and a Diploma of Financial Management from the University of New England.
In 2014, he was made an honourary member of the Royal College of Music, London.
The LPO was founded in 1932 and has recorded numerous soundtracks for films, including Lord of the Rings.
