The opening weekend had proved a worthwhile visit south to Kingborough for the Lightning, winning four of five games across both men's and women's competition.
The Launceston women have slotted into second spot following a 74-50 victory over Kingborough-Huon Kings.
Aishah Anis headlined the resounding win on the back of a breakout 37-point game.
The 17-year-old overshadowed one-time Launceston Tornadoes teammate Tayla Roberts, who finished with a Kings team-high 23 points.
The side containing seven former or current Tornadoes nearly peeled back a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Basketball of Tasmania High Performance side.
Jayde Brazendale's last two points reduced the difference to just two points with still 4:42 left on the clock.
But the Lightning were just unable to get off a successful shot off as the margin drifted out by 65-50 at the buzzer.

The initial 0-1 start to its State League campaign was forgotten in the final game of Saturday night's schedule when Launceston got back onto level terms in its clash with Hobart Phoenix.
Jess Johnston, one of the teenage Tornadoes, had fired off 32 points including five three-pointers in the 81-57 score. Anis added 15 points.
Scores were tied up 16-16 at quarter-time before the Lightning stretched out to a 13-point lead at the half.
The men sit in fourth - as one of three unbeaten teams - playing a game less behind Penguin, Basketball Tasmania High Performance and Hobart Phoenix, only up by virtue of a point in their loss.
The 108-57 and 79-72 wins ensured the Lightning have the strongest for and against, keeping the side well placed for coming rounds ahead of finals played in Launceston.
That top start came after Kai Woodfall's return home from playing US College ball after four years away.
He averaged 27.5 points including a nearly half of his 35 points against last year's State League runners-up inside the final five minutes of the thrilling seven-point win.
The Lightning will meet its Next Gen side on October 23 next at Elphin Sports Centre.
