Rewind 12 months to the day and the overseeing club coach was their biggest fan.
She burst off the sidelines, mouth wide open, in shock.
"It was such a great comeback that day because the odds were against them from the start," Carstens said.
"They were down and out pretty much had to find a way to get back into the game.
"But I vividly remember the siren, running out, just carrying on and celebrating."
One of the Cavaliers had that game come back from glandular fever, another went down with an anterior cruciate ligament in the opening minutes and a defender was thrown to the other end to cover for the knee injury.
Cavaliers had trailed by 12 goals late to somehow win.
Piper Sanders, Hayley Older, Tahlia Randall, Montana Viney and Dani Laugher will back up again with Courtney Treloar, who was sidelined last year from an ACL injury
"To have that game to draw back on helps to say finals is about the mentally toughest team and the one that can take control in those pivotal moments," Carstens said.
So it perhaps is apt the grand final will be against their long-time rivals again.
The two sides have split their four matches this year.
The decider will start from 2:30pm at the Silverdome.
