Labor is attempting to further ramp up the pressure on Health Minister Michael Ferguson, launching a community petition to call for more beds and staff at the Launceston General Hospital.

And it's denying the move is a politically motivated stunt.
"The decision has come from the community and we've been approached by community members on a number of occasions to do something about the system," Labor health spokeswoman Sarah Lovell said while standing alongside Opposition Leader Rebecca White outside the LGH.

Following the Auditor-General's report on the state of the health system, the survey urges the state government to implement all the recommendations.
Ms Lovell said the Opposition had "very little faith" that Mr Ferguson would ensure that the government did so.
"He has said time and time again that he will make all sorts of changes but, at the end of the day, he does very little," she said.
Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation delegate Tom Millen said staff at the LGH were "struggling to give safe and adequate care to people coming in to the emergency department".
On the Auditor-General's recommendations, Premier Will Hodgman said the government would "certainly" implement those "that improve our health system".
"If Rebecca White's taken the time to go to Launceston to visit the LGH, she'll see the work that's being undertaken there [and] she might meet some of the 400 additional staff that we've employed since we've been in government," Mr Hodgman told media in Hobart.
