Alex Gaetani's men went down 5-1 at Windsor Park in March but the coach is confident his big league newcomers are a better proposition now.

"That was a big disappointment so we'll need to do a lot of things much better to change the result," he said.

"But we're in a good place at the moment so this is a good opportunity to get some points. Our last two games have shown improvement in terms of gameplan and workrate."

A week after their 3-1 Lakoseljac Cup exit at Olympia, Gaetani said his team aims to use the workrate of "natural attacker" Aaron Campbell up front to pressure the Knights' backline and ideally cut out their incisive diagonals.

Although Launceston City are in the middle of a four-week spell without a game, coach Lino Sciulli said there is no point complaining.

"If we didn't want it that way we should have beaten University in the cup," he said.

"It's not ideal, we'd much rather be playing games and our first game back will be against Riverside and it looks like we're going to be under-done but we're still training twice a week."

Supportive of his striking figurehead Noah Mies filling the void by playing for Caroline Springs George Cross in Victoria's third-tier competition, Sciulli said one advantage of the enforced break is the opportunity for players to recover from injuries.

He hopes skipper Lindsay Millington will not need a knee operation, Alex Turner's knee is a more long-term proposition, Pat Sullivan should be back from a hamstring and Matt Oh will have had five weeks to get over concussion.

"Hopefully we'll get Noah back but who knows, he may decide to stay. It's a great opportunity for him and if we can produce players to play on the mainland then we've done our job."
