Police are still searching for a driver who fled the scene of a fiery crash on the Bass Highway at Travellers Rest in December.

At the time of the crash, police said they had grave concerns for the driver of the Mazda hatchback after the car left the side of the road and hit a cement curb about 4.40am on December 20.
The highway was blocked for a number of hours after the crash occurred while police investigated.

Police at the scene believed the driver would likely have serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Nearby bushland was searched in a bid to find the person involved, but it was unsuccessful.
More than four months after the crash the driver's identity and location are still unknown.
Tasmania Police said it was still investigating the incident.
