Playing a court across from their local rivals for the second time in 24 hours, reigning champions Northern Hawks came from behind to overrun Kingston 69-49.
The Hawks started slowly to enter the first break four goals down, but were bolstered by the addition of centre Lydia Coote in the second term, and swung the game with nine unanswered goals.
Danni Pickett was influential in wing attack for the first half, but was rested for the remainder of the match as coaches Ruth Tuohy and Kellie Woolnough took the chance to spread the load.
Shooter Ashlea Mawer, player of the match Zoe Claridge and wing defence Ashton Whiley were the only Hawks to play the whole game.
"The best thing about this weekend was that we've been able to utilise all 10 players, get them all on the court and still manage to have two really great wins," Woolnough said.
"Claire McKimmie came on in wing attack at half time, she got to the circle absolutely beautifully, fed beautifully and her hands over ball were a really good asset in turning it over from the attack end.
"We've got a lot of work to do but we know we've got 10 players who can rotate through the court and make an impact when they come on."
Tuohy said former under-19 state representative Jamie Symons' cameo had also helped swing the game in favour of the hosts.
"We brought Jamie Symons into goal defence just to change up the defensive end and put a little pace on it, I think that allowed a lot more pressure and forced a lot of balls out on Kingston's behalf," Tuohy said.
"I think that was a great change as well to put a little bit of speed into our circle, so we've got some good depth."
CAVALIERS overcame the disappointment of a one-point defeat in their under-19s clash with Waratah by reversing the scoreline in the opens.
The Cavs opened up a two-goal buffer in the first term and stretched it to six at the final change thanks to the experience of goal attack Kate Gibson and the defensive efforts of Issy Maskell, Rachael Tempo and Dana Lester.
Dan Roden's side was held to just seven goals in the final term, but held strong to win 42-41.
"I was really impressed to see the connections from the defensive end when we gained possession and transitioned the ball through the mid court and the players' ability to deliver to deliver a variety of balls into goalies," Roden said.
"The players really worked to our game plan of long, fast and direct and for majority of the game against Kingston that worked really well for us.
"However, Cripps set a split circle defence and double defended our shooter and shut down our scoring options in our game on Sunday."
Maskell was named player of the match.
A round three bye means the Cavs will wait four weeks for their next game - a trip south against league heavyweights Arrows on April 27 - while the Hawks will meet Devon in the North-West next Saturday.
Arrows and Devon met in the afternoon match at the Silverdome on Sunday, with the Kate Prins-inspired Southerners netting a comfortable 82-35 win.
