The Tasmanian Fire Service were on the scene at midday to contain the fire.
The incident occurred at the roundabout on the corner of Charles and Howick Street.
The cause of the blaze is believed to be an electrical fault in the vehicle’s engine.
The fire was confined to the front portion of the vehicle.
Damages to the vehicle are estimated to be $1000.
The fire has now been contained, no serious injuries were reported.
Launceston police were on the scene to direct traffic.
