Opening the bowling for the first time this season, the 19-year-old removed the Hurricanes’ top four – including the prize scalps of Josh Barry and Brady Yates - en route to collecting 6-39 off 8.5 overs.
The Eagles lost the game, but the match ball will stay in Peck’s possession.
“It was really good actually, it was nice to have a bit of luck go my way and to get a good lot of wickets, I was really happy,” the former Westbury Primary School student said.
“I think it was just putting it in consistent areas and I bowled one really good delivery that probably would have got out most batsmen.
“The boys got around me and they were excited I got six wickets, it was really good.”
Peck has collected 18 wickets in 10 matches this season to average 14.28, and has already exceeded his wicket tally from last season.
The right-arm paceman, who also spends his weekdays knocking over stumps in his role as an apprentice arborist, credited his improvement to the Mowbray coaching staff and another year in the system.
“Probably the experience of playing last year and the year before and knowing what you’ve got to do to take wickets,” he said.
“That’s just [bowling] consistent lines and lengths and then you’re giving yourself every chance to get good results.”
A pre-match pep talk from Dale Scott also seemed to work wonders on Saturday.
“He was giving me tips on my wrist position - the boys were calling it the Dale Scott bowling academy.”
