Up to $286,000 in grant funding is available across 13 industry categories: cotton; dairy; eggs and poultry; established, new and emerging rural industries; fisheries and aquaculture; forest and wood products; grains; health and biosecurity; meat and livestock; pork; red meat processing; viticulture and oenology; and wool.
This awards program was launched in 2001, and since then has helped more than 230 researchers, innovators and scientists aged between 18 and 35 years turn their ideas into reality through more than $3.7 million in grant funding, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister David Littleproud said.
“Research and innovation will help us capitalise on global food demand,” he said.
“Innovation drives productivity in Australian agriculture and helps us push towards the National Farmers’ Federation’s vision of a $100 billion agricultural industry by 2030.”
Winners of the industry category awards will receive $22,000 to help with work or study in the agricultural industry.
They can also apply for the Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources’ Award, which provides additional funding for an extended research project.
Award winners will be recognised during the ABARES Outlook 2019 conference in Canberra in March.
Applications close on October 12. Visit www.agriculture.gov.au/scienceawards to apply.
