If crowds thought the 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour was good, then they’re going to be blown away at next year’s event, Chocolate Starfish front man Adam Thompson says.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Jimmy Barnes, The Living End, Diesel, Richard Clapton and Chocolate Starfish will take to the stage at the Country Club of Tasmania on Australia Day for the 2019 instalment of the tour.
Thompson said the band intends to put on a “huge show” for Launceston crowds.
“At this year’s event we got them all jumping and doing crazy stuff and that’s what we’ll do again because it’s what they expect now,” he said.
“Tassie crowds, because not every band comes there, receive us well. They’re very supportive and I think that’s why it always sells out every year.”
He said the festival was a bunch of good mates having a good time.
“All the other bands know each other, its egotistical. It’s a bunch of people who just genuinely enjoy playing together,” Thompson said.
“It is like a bunch of mates coming together and enjoying each other’s company and feeling good about it.”
Next year’s line up was “very special” with a slightly younger crowd predicted, Thompson said.
“To have an international act like Joan Jett is awesome, then we’re also branching into bands like The Living End, too,” he said.
“We’re normally one of the youngest bands, so to have living end, who are slightly younger than us, is great.”
He believes one of the reasons the festival is so successful is because the bands are still “relevant”.
“These bands all put on a good show and are still quite relevant because they’re producing music still,” Thompson said.
“There are other festivals out there where it’s just old bands playing their hits only.”
The tour will have seven other stops, with the Launceston leg happening on the most Australian day of the year on the Country Club’s lawn.
Tickets for the event will be on sale through ticketmaster.com.au.
